Prevent Duty
At our school we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils. As part of this commitment, we follow the Prevent Duty set out by the UK Government.
The Prevent Duty is part of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 and aims to protect children from being drawn into extremism or radicalisation.
What this means in our school
We work to ensure that our pupils are safe, supported, and able to develop their understanding of the world in a positive and respectful way.
Our approach includes:
-
Promoting respect, tolerance, and inclusion
-
Encouraging pupils to think critically and express their views safely
-
Teaching children about British values, including democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect
-
Ensuring staff are trained to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns
-
Working with families and external agencies when necessary
Safeguarding
Prevent is part of our wider safeguarding responsibilities. All staff are trained to help protect children and to provide a safe environment where pupils feel valued and supported.
If you have any concerns, please contact the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
